Jewelry store employee caught stealing and selling during her lunch break

“I was contacted by a local jewelry store owner who suspected an employee of stealing jewelry from their store. The store owner asked if there was a way to check and see if this person was selling jewelry in the area. I conducted a search using LeadsOnline of the suspected employee and learned this employee sold 33 items dating back to the first month of employment with the jewelry store. The store owner began to search her files and learned items were deleted out of their inventory and/or placed on older receipts to make it appear that the items were sold. The secondhand business still had 21 pieces of jewelry in store. With the inventory hard copy photos, and the photos of the items at the secondhand business, we matched the items. LeadsOnline helped me compare her time card to show in 26 occasions the suspect took the items and sold them during her lunch break and then returned to work. The total amount reported in the 33 items stolen was $205,480, and the amount we recovered from the secondhand shop from the 21 items returned was $129,976. When the suspect was arrested and told about the evidence dating back to June 2013 with the inventory sheets matching the items she sold, she asked for an attorney.”

“Lexington Police detectives David Fetko, Jeremy Day, and Raymond Terry identified a total of ten individuals that appeared to be working together to pawn stolen high-end jewelry. The victim had recently suffered from a medical condition. The 570 items of jewelry recovered has an appraised retail value of $234,600 and had been passed down to the victim by her mother who was an avid collector of jewelry.

The ten suspects associated with this group have been arrested, indicted by a Grand Jury and currently are awaiting trial.”

Firearms recovered from fleeing suspect

Catchin’ the metal thieves before they can do more damage

On Dec. 12 – A business reported a large amount of fabricated steel, stolen. They reviewed their video surveillance and discovered two males loaded metal into a white Chevrolet Suburban two days prior.

Dec. 14 – Video of the theft shown on a Crime Stoppers segment on the local news.

Dec. 15 – I received a tip regarding who the suspect could be. I checked him through LeadsOnline and found three very large scrap tickets (just over 5,400 lbs) for Dec. 10. I pulled up the tickets and saw the photos of him and the vehicle that he was using. The vehicle and his clothing were the same as in the surveillance video and it was obvious as to his identity. I also checked LeadsOnline and ran the tag on the suspect’s vehicle. I located a ticket for Dec. 10, where an accomplice scrapped a large amount of metal (just over 1,800 lbs). In his photo, it showed a picture of both suspects, along with the white Suburban, still wearing the same clothing.

Dec. 15 – First suspect arrested at his residence for theft of property $1,000 to $5,000.

Dec. 18 – Second suspect arrested for a warrant that I had obtained for him for theft of property $1,000 to $5,000. The property was estimated at $3,500.00 but was not able to be recovered. There was not believed to be any additional damage.”

Ohio Police crack metal theft case targeting a local egg farm

“Better late than never. A while ago, the Licking County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into a large amount of metal being stolen from an egg farm located in Croton, Ohio. During this time, the egg farm was constructing a new building, which they purchased all the material from a company overseas. As the investigation persisted, LeadsOnline was used to search for whoever was stealing the metal, but nothing was found locally. A month later, two individuals were found on the property of the egg farm, and I questioned them about the theft of the metal. During this interview, I discovered there was a large theft ring, and most of the thefts were being committed at the egg farm. By checking all the names through LeadsOnline, I was able to locate eight individuals who were selling the stolen metal to scrap yards in Columbus. All individuals were investigated and eventually arrested for the theft of metal. The total loss for the egg farm was over $1,000,000.”

Suspect who scrapped 2.5 million dollars in brass arrested and charged with the help of LeadsOnline
