“A female arrived at the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office to file a report of a stolen laptop that had pictures of her family on it that could never be replaced. I took the report and, as always, I checked LeadsOnline. I was able to immediately identify the suspect and the location where the stolen laptop had been sold. I called the store and put an investigative hold on the stolen laptop. After seizing the laptop and securing it in our department’s evidence room, the victim decided not to press charges against the suspect because it was her friend’s boyfriend. I have spoken to the victim and she has worked it out with the business that she has her laptop in her possession once again. She has received reimbursement for her expenses. The crook did not get prosecuted this time, but the victim is happy, and that is our first priority. Thank you for all of your help.”
