“A church in our jurisdiction had numerous theft reports in a one year period. Unfortunately they don’t keep track of their serial numbers. Finally, they reported an unusual brand of microphone as missing and happened to have a serial number for it. I put the brand name only into LeadsOnline and found two had been pawned in a nearby city. I called the store. They looked at the microphones, and indeed the serial numbers matched. From there we worked backwards checking the suspect’s activity for the past year, and the results were staggering. Once we arrested the suspect, he gave a full confession post Miranda. The suspect pointed out even more items he took from the church and pawned. We seized a total of about 45 items that we were able to return to the church.”
