Drug addict daughter steals family heirlooms from mother’s home

“I was working a burglary where the victim was robbed of family heirlooms by her daughter, an alleged drug addict. The victim kicked her daughter out of her home this past summer and had not seen her since. The victim provided us with the name of her daughter’s boyfriend. The home was processed for fingerprints and photographed. During the investigation, both suspects were entered into LeadsOnline. I immediately received a hit on the boyfriend suspect. The hit showed he pawned numerous rings that matched jewelry on the victim’s statement. Photographs were taken of the pawned rings and the victim positively identified the rings to be hers. The following day, I received another hit that the boyfriend pawned more items to an out-of-state jeweler that had been in town for a jewelry convention, just days after the burglary. As I began the process of having the items held, I received another hit showing the daughter sold a ring, now tying both suspects to the burglary and stolen property. Within the case I had three total hits thanks to LeadsOnline, and retrieved video from the pawn shop identifying both suspects. Rapid search of NCIC hits leads Washington police to wanted felon

I found a rifle pawned in Kennewick that matched a rifle reported stolen out of Adams County, Washington. This led to identifying the offender, who had several aliases, eight felony warrants out of Nevada and one in Utah. The Adams County, Benton County and Elko County investigations led to locating him in Nebraska. When Nebraska authorities made contact with him, he fled in a vehicle and abandoned it to run on foot. “Our office received a complaint from a subject in our parish who said his farm equipment was stolen and possibly sold as scrap metal. The victim’s neighbor said he saw two males on the property the day before, cutting up his farm equipment with a cutting torch. The complainant said he checked his property and had approximately $2,500 in farm equipment stolen. The complainant gave me a name of two subjects he suspected. I placed both of those subjects in a photograph lineup and showed the lineups to the neighbor who identified both suspects. “I was informed by the patrol division that a local store in town had reported a suspect for stealing Dyson vacuum cleaners valued at $600 on 3 separate dates. Shelby County uses LeadsOnline to track down over 2,000 felony warrants

“I uploaded 2,259 felony warrants into the LeadsOnline database earlier this month. The database does everything based off of driver’s license numbers. Since uploading those warrants into the system, multiple hits have started coming in from all over the country. This gives us an idea where our fugitives are. The hits come in the form of an email showing all the information associated. A hit came in on a suspect who was wanted since 2008 on Aggravated Burglary, Theft of Property, and Petition to Revoke Suspended Sentence. This is a Criminal Court Forfeiture warrant, meaning he went through the indictment process and skipped after the fact. The hit showed that he sold sporting equipment at a business in Jefferson City, MO just a day before the search. The record showed he lived at a specific address in Jefferson, MO. The file was reviewed and it was determined that he needed to be placed on NCIC for surrounding states extradition. Jefferson City PD was contacted and they made an attempt at that location. They advised he was no longer living at that address. CLEAR records showed a different address. Officer Skinner went to that location and found the wanted subject. He was taken into custody without incident. We have been receiving a bunch of these hits anywhere from Atlanta to Chicago and as we have the time we are sending those leads off seeking assistance, but this could be a huge victory for us moving forward as this somewhat automates locating fugitives.”

“LeadsOnline unexpectedly gave our agency a suspect’s photograph. An undercover narcotics officer came into the Tactical Information Office and asked the other officers to look up a DL photo of a suspect to write five felony drug delivery warrants. Unfortunately, the TIC officer was having software issues at that time. It always seems to happen at just the wrong time. I asked the undercover officer to let me give it a try in LeadsOnline with the hope that the suspect had sold a cellphone to ecoATM. “I work for The University of Texas System Police at one of the smaller components. As such we have very limited resources.
