$8,000 worth of family heirlooms are returned to the victims with the help of LeadsOnline

“I was dispatched to a residence. Upon arrival I spoke to the homeowners who stated they had jewelry missing. There were construction workers in the house for the past couple days. They provided me with the names of the workers and the boss. After phone conversations with all of them one was clearly my prime suspect. I ran all of them through LeadsOnline but didn’t get any hits. I ran my main suspect through LinX and found his girlfriend. I ran her through LeadsOnline and found that she had sold a bunch of jewelry. I sent a hold request through LeadsOnline to the business and had my victim meet me at the business the next day to identify the jewelry. There were two hits and two batches of jewelry recovered. Total stolen was about $12,000 total recovered was around $8,000; much of it were family heirlooms from a recently passed mother. I don’t usually let people hug me in uniform but my victim was so overcome with emotion when I found her mother’s wedding and engagement rings I couldn’t say no. “In August, we received a report of 11 stolen guns from a residence in our county. Unfortunately, at the time we had no serial numbers nor did we have a suspect. I started searching the guns using a description of each one. I noticed a name that appeared about three times on different guns that were described as very similar to the ones we were looking for. I ran the name and found 9 of the 11 guns we were looking for and also located 10 more that the victim did not know were even missing! After running the now suspects information through the DMV files, I was able to find that the suspect had a vehicle registered in his and the victim’s daughters name! This tied it all together. Missing girl’s whereabouts are traced with the help of LeadsOnline

“I got a case assigned to me by my Captain which was a missing person report. The girl that was missing is 23 and a lot of things led up to the report and why it was assigned to me. Her social media updates had stopped, her phone was turned off etc. So I got information on someone she may have been hanging with. I started out by calling people, friends and known associates. They all had the same story that the missing girl and the guy she may be with were in rehab together and they are probably out looking for drugs. I received a report for a larceny of $3,000 worth of gold jewelry that was stolen from a residential safe. The victim named a possible suspect. However, upon speaking with the suspect, he denied any knowledge of such theft. Suspect asks sister to sell stolen jewelry in different state

“We had a case where jewelry was stolen from a retirement home from three victims. The victims were all in their 90s. The retirement home had a suspect, and after running her name through LeadsOnline it came up empty. I ran a search with the same name outside of our state and low and behold, I found a match. The first name was different so I called the business where the jewelry was sold. After obtaining information, I discovered it was the sister of the suspect. The suspect told her own sister that her boyfriend gave her the jewelry and asked her to sell it because she didn’t have a license to drive to West Virginia. After speaking with the suspect by phone, she called her sister and told her the jewelry was stolen. The sister that had nothing to do with the crime gave me a statement stating her sister did steal the jewelry and admitted it to her. This is yet another case where LeadsOnline helped me solve it. “An investigator with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office was assigned to investigate the theft of three rings from a residence under repair. He obtained the names of all the contractors that came to the house during the time-frame of the theft, and checked them through LeadsOnline. The person of interest had sold two rings. The investigator interviewed the suspect and obtained a confession. The suspect stated that he had sold the stolen rings during the same transaction at the same business. Based on previous issues with the owner of this gold store, the suspect was wired up and sent back to the store in an attempt to get back the stolen property he had sold the owner of the gold store. The owner made several incriminating statements and even searched the suspect for a police wire before finally agreeing to sell the stolen property back to the suspect for twice the value. The owner of the business was arrested for possession of stolen property, falsifying sales records, and obstruction of justice. LeadsOnline not only helped solve the originally investigated grand larceny, but also helped with the arrest of a dishonest gold dealer.”

“In May, Pearisburg Police Department took a report of a stolen gun. Officer Mike Spicer of Pearisburg Police contacted me at the Sheriff’s Office to see if anything was showing up on LeadsOnline. Local subdivision targeted by crook in several thefts

“I was investigating an incident involved shoplifting numerous pieces of jewelry valued at over $200. The victim had security cameras and decent footage of the female suspect. The victim was able to obtain the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect left in, which belonged to a male. Through my investigation, I was able to find a female matching the description of the suspect. Initially, the only pictures I could find of the female were old, making it difficult to identify her as the suspect in the incident. ecoATM help Newport News Police and U.S. Marshals Service find homicide suspect

“In October, I was asked for assistance by the U.S Marshals Fugitive Task Force to help locate a homicide suspect. The suspect had left the area and the U.S Marshals had run out of places to look. I entered the suspect’s name in LeadsOnline. The search revealed that the suspect had a few entries, but nothing recent. A search, with the help of the associations icon, was entered and revealed a name of a family member. That name was entered into LeadsOnline, which resulted in a recent ecoATM transaction in Northern Virginia. When that transaction was viewed, not only did it show the family member, but the homicide suspect was standing next to him. The transaction had a valid address listed for the family member. Based on the ecoATM transaction, LEO’s in that jurisdiction were notified of the situation and responded to the family members address the next day. The suspect was arrested and transported back to Newport News for prosecution. Without the partnership and technology that LeadsOnline and ecoATM provides, this homicide suspect could have been on the run for a while.
