Three jewelry cases solved in Louisiana

“An investigator with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office was assigned to investigate the theft of three rings from a residence under repair. Guns stolen from pawn shop “grab and go” recovered and lead to closure of other burglaries

“While conducting my daily check of LeadsOnline reports, I noticed a potential hit for a stolen handgun. I also noticed that this handgun was reported to the Sheriff’s Office as being stolen from another pawn shop three days prior. I found that the suspect is also convicted felon. Missing woman proven to be fraud

“I was assigned a case in which a woman had reported being physically assaulted by her live-in boyfriend. When she returned home, she found that her boyfriend had moved out, and he had taken her father’s extensive gun collection with him. She called police out to her residence to report the theft. She advised officers that she and her children would stay with a friend for the night and would follow up with detectives the next day. Since her boyfriend was an ex-convict, and now armed with numerous firearms, she was afraid he would follow up on his threats to kill her. I was unable to reach her for several days after the incident, but I finally received a phone call from worried family members who reported that the day after the assault she dropped her children off at school and never returned to pick them up. The woman had been missing for several days. She did not take her purse, phone, vehicle, or any clothes. Her family advised that her children were her life, and she would never go anywhere without them. The case became a missing/abducted person investigation. After exhausting all leads and checking for months for the missing woman, I attended the LeadsOnline conference in Las Vegas where I learned how to get the most out of the system’s features. When I returned to Texas, I checked the LeadsOnline database and found that the boyfriend had sold a few of the stolen guns. I ran the woman’s information and learned that she had been selling the firearms before the initial theft report. I followed up with the shops in person and found CCTV footage of the pair traveling the country and selling firearms along the way. Now thinking the woman may have left on her own will, I checked some social media online and found a picture with the missing woman in the background, drinking beer and dancing with her boyfriend, several months after abandoning her children at school. “A local cemetery began seeing a large amount of flower urns missing. The cemetery did not report the thefts to police but did send a letter to a local scrap yard advising of the thefts. One month later, we were made aware of the incident by an employee at a local scrap yard but were unable to locate the person selling the flower urns. Upon searching the LeadsOnline database we found another suspect who was related to the person in question and were able to further the investigation. Four suspects were arrested and two of them confessed to the crime. The four suspects were responsible for taking more than 600 flower urns from the cemetary. Kentucky police solve $60,000 metal theft case

“A construction company reported the theft of approximately $60,000 in steel road construction plates from a road construction site in Raceland. The company estimated their weight at approx. 10,000 pounds and the name of the company was burned into them. After coming up with a suspect’s name we were able to use LeadsOnline metal theft investigations system and find where the suspect had scrapped 9,188 pounds of steel at a scrap yard in Huntington, West Virginia. We contacted the scrap yard, and learned that steel they had bought was steel plates. Huntington PD was then contacted, and they checked the plates and found the name of the construction company was burned into the metal. Suspects linked to more than 40 valve thefts causing $75,000 in damages

“The Peoria Police Department’s Impact Team used LeadsOnline to connect three suspects with a dozen cases of stolen water flow valves in Peoria. At the time the three suspects were arrested, they had at least 10 water flow valves with them that have since been connected to a theft in Glendale. In fact, investigators linked the suspects to 20 cases in Scottsdale, and an additional 10 to 15 cases in Glendale. Demolition employee scraps over 30,000 pounds of stolen metal behind boss’ back

My city has an old hospital they finally decided to tear down. In the past year we have had over 80 arrests for theft up at the site. I received a call from a probation officer who advised me on a routine check of one of his probationers, that he found some copper in her car. She claimed it came from her work. The probation officer advised me that the suspect worked for a business that was tearing down an old hospital. Serial burglar in Arizona taken off the streets with help of LeadsOnline

“I assisted in an investigation regarding a stolen vehicle where the victim knew the suspect. Details about how the vehicle was stolen were sketchy at first, and it was not clear as to whether the suspect had the legal authority to drive the vehicle. During the initial follow up, we learned the suspect was wanted out of the Arizona Department of Corrections for a parole violation. The suspect was a former employee at a scrap yard and frequently took items to various recycling yards in the area from thefts he committed. Since the suspect was wanted for questioning in a stolen vehicle case, was the subject of an outstanding warrant, and was more than likely involved in several theft/burglary cases, it became a high priority to track this suspect down. Using LeadsOnline, I learned valuable information about his pattern of selling. I made contact with the manager of a scrap yard he frequented and informed him of the investigation. They agreed to call me when the suspect showed up. Within two hours my phone was ringing and the suspect had arrived at the yard. Ohio Police crack metal theft case targeting a local egg farm

“Better late than never. A while ago, the Licking County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into a large amount of metal being stolen from an egg farm located in Croton, Ohio. During this time, the egg farm was constructing a new building, which they purchased all the material from a company overseas. As the investigation persisted, LeadsOnline was used to search for whoever was stealing the metal, but nothing was found locally. A month later, two individuals were found on the property of the egg farm, and I questioned them about the theft of the metal. During this interview, I discovered there was a large theft ring, and most of the thefts were being committed at the egg farm. The wire was distinctive because it was encased in an orange, ribbed insulation. Within that insulation was a steel sheathing, then three large wires and one small wire inside. I followed the drag marks on the ground to a cut in the fenced in the perimeter. The scene also showed a roll of duct tape near the wooden spool that the wire was stolen from and pieces of raveled duct tape along the drag marks on the ground. I noted the address of the apartment complex just outside the cut fence and ran the address of the apartment complex through LeadsOnline. I found the suspect because he sold the exact material to a scrap yard and used an ID that had an address of that apartment complex. I was able to recover $6,000 worth of wire at the scrap yard and charge him for third degree aggregate theft for two thefts that occurred at the same location exactly one month apart. Suspect arrested after stealing multiple vacuums from local stores

“I was informed by the patrol division that a local store in town had reported a suspect for stealing Dyson vacuum cleaners valued at $600 on 3 separate dates.
