Multiple Part 1 crimes solved with LeadsOnline

“LeadsOnline has assisted my department in solving many cases this year. There have been multiple burglaries that were only solved by having this technology. Without LeadsOnline, the steps that would have to be taken would greatly increase our workload. 5 stars to Leads!”

LeadsOnline provides simplicity for investigations

“I had a larceny of tools case where a former employee was a suspect. I checked LeadsOnline and found where the suspect had sold the very tools he was suspected of stealing. When I called the business, they told me he had sold more tools that day. I contacted my victim, who said all of the tools sold in both incidents were his. LeadsOnline made my investigation very simple.”

Two police agencies work together to recover stolen television

“LeadsOnline assisted with the recovery of a 32 in. television from a local burglary. With the assistance of another law enforcement agency in our area, and the good conscience of a witness who discovered they had assisted selling stolen property, all of the pieces came together and allowed me to recover and return the television to the owner. Thanks for all that you offer to us.”

LeadsOnline is valuable in prosecution of case

“During a recent burglary to a residence investigation, I placed several suspects on a watch list. Within a few days, I received notification that one of the suspects had sold two of the stolen cellphones at an EcoATM. EcoATM reported the purchase immediately to LeadsOnline and I was able to recover the stolen property, along with obtaining detailed information from the vendor. LeadsOnline helped to speed up the investigation by providing real-time data that was valuable in the recovery and prosecution of the case.”

LeadsOnline makes investigator’s job easier

“I received a theft/fraud complaint from an elderly woman’s niece who had recently taken over her aunt’s finances after she was placed in a nursing home. The niece stated that she had found thousands of dollars of fraudulent credit card transactions on her aunt’s credit card. The niece also reported that items were missing from her aunt’s residence including a revolver. By searching LeadsOnline, I was able to find the transactions for the stolen handgun, which was sold in October 2015! By using the name of the person that sold the handgun in a search, I was also able to find several other items that she sold! With this information, I was able to conduct an interview with the suspect who admitted to all of the criminal activity. The key to solving this case was finding that handgun on LeadsOnline! You’re making my job so much easier! Thank you!”

LeadsOnline saves immeasurable amount of time in recovering stolen property

“Glynn County Police Department received a complaint from a resident of a large amount of tools and equipment stolen. The victim stated that he located some of his items in a local business. I was assigned this case and recovered the items that the victim found. Upon searching for the person who sold the items via LeadsOnline, I discovered that the person has been selling the victim’s property at five different businesses in the southeast Georgia area. The total value of the theft was over $21,000! Using LeadsOnline, I was able to successfully recover over $14,000 worth of property and return it to the victim. This also lead to five theft by deception charges and one felony theft charge against the defendant! LeadsOnline saved an immeasurable amount of time in locating and recovering the property!”

LeadsOnline is major factor in solving case

“A resident filed a report of a residential burglary in which his house was broken into and several items including an X-Box 1 and several X-Box games stolen. The resident had the serial number for the X-Box, which was put into NCIC. The X-Box 1 showed up in LeadsOnline, and after running the name of the person who sold it, other items were also located at two other businesses. One of the items was sold within hours of the burglary allowing me to charge the defendant with burglary in the 1st degree and three counts of theft by deception! LeadsOnline was the major factor in solving this case! Thank you!”

Glynn County PD uses LeadsOnline to stop crime spree

“It just keeps getting better! While checking the list of multiple store transactions, I observed that one individual had made numerous suspicious sales of roofing tools. We later learned that these items were stolen from a construction company. From this individual’s actions, I was able to identify the person who committed the burglary. Approximately $5000 in construction equipment was recovered. I was also able to link these individuals as suspects in numerous thefts and burglaries, which occurred earlier this year. I have say that Leads Online is awesome.”

One solved burglary after another

“The hits just keep on coming! Today we had an individual stopped in another jurisdiction. A search of his vehicle resulted in the discovery of stolen property. I ran the person’s name in LeadsOnline, and discovered that he had recently sold property in our jurisdiction. I researched these items in our database, and I was able to link him to the three burglaries, all of which occurred this week.”

Police work closely with businesses for electronic reporting to better serve crime victims

“LeadsOnline has assisted our agency with recovering stolen property on more than one occasion. I have spoken to area pawn shops about the benefits of using LeadsOnline and one of the shops opted to start using the system to report pawn, purchases and sales. This assisted both us and them with tracking and locating possible stolen property and/or persons selling stolen property. Just last week I testified in District Court about how we use LeadsOnline and it was approved by the Judge as a good investigative tool. Thank you.”

LeadsOnline success encourages new agencies to register

“I was contacted by a neighboring agency that does not have a LeadsOnline account. They requested I run a name for them of a suspected burglar. Due to the search, I alerted them that the suspect sold property from another burglary case that they had reached a dead end on. By using LeadsOnline, the agency cleared two burglaries with one search. This is a great tool, and the agency will be seeking to acquire an account in the very near future.”

Criminal who is not so bright gets caught selling stolen property after denying possession of property to law enforcement

“Two years ago I was investigating a report of a breaking and entering and larceny. The victim advised who he thought the suspect was based on the suspect bragging to friends. Over a year later I made contact with the suspect who stated that he would not meet with me because his mother told him that police could lie to him and they could arrest him based on what someone said. I had already checked the suspect on LeadsOnline and nothing definitive turned up until I decided to do another search on LeadsOnline for the suspect early this year and found that the suspect sold the property late last year, after I originally talked to him, so this should probably be on Dumb Criminals too!”

Cullman County finds stolen gun 50 miles away

“I got a report of a pistol being stolen. I had a suspect, but no serial numbers on the gun. I checked LeadsOnline and found the suspect had sold a similar gun fifty miles away from me. I got the gun back within two days of the report and he confessed, without me ever having the serial numbers. Evidence found on LeadsOnline gives suspect no other option than confession

“A few months ago, I had a case where a cell phone and other items were taken from a house. After speaking with the victim, I was able to get the serial number for the cell phone that was taken. One of the first steps I took, as always, was to check the serial number of the cell phone through LeadsOnline. I received a hit on LeadsOnline that the phone was sold just hours after the incident occurred at an ecoATM machine close to the victim’s house. I printed out the information from LeadsOnline and headed to the address that was provided in the ecoATM transaction. I made contact with the suspect at the house, and after presenting him with the evidence I received from LeadsOnline, he had no other option but to confess everything! He was recently sentenced to 5 years in prison for his actions that day, and thanks to LeadsOnline, he was quickly and easily apprehended!”

LeadsOnline is a game changer for law enforcement

“Yet again, your program has helped us to recover stolen property in a short amount of time. My agency was able to locate approximately $710 worth of property the very next day after the burglary and theft. I have lost track of what my agency has recovered to date, but I am sure it is in excess of $10,000 simply by using this resource. I can’t say thank you enough, from the ease of use to the helpfulness of your staff, especially with your support team. Concerned pawn shop owner and LeadsOnline identify employee theft

“A pawn shop owner called with concerns of a customer who was bringing in a number of high-dollar depth finders ($2,000-$3,000 each) that were still in the box. He asked if they were hot or not because of their value and because they were still being in the box. I searched LeadsOnline and found that one young man in his 20s was selling these at several stores. Based on this and the pawnshop owners concern, I contacted boat manufactures in our area along with marinas, but nothing matching these was missing. Marion County Sheriff’s Department, home of Ranger Boats, was contacted by our department (Baxter County Sheriff’s Department), and it was found that Ranger Boats had filed a report of theft of the items found. It was also found that the young man worked for them in their parts department. Investigators with Marion County Sheriff’s Office are working on arrest warrants for the individual in the case. Housekeeping employee steals jewelry from elderly

“I was working a theft of jewelry case that occurred in a nursing home, and one of the elderly victims mentioned a housekeeping employee that she thought acted suspiciously around the times of the thefts. I had no other leads in the case and had no serial numbers to run on LeadsOnline, but I decided to run the name of the employee. I received multiple recent hits on her pawning jewelry and at least one of the jewelry items was a good enough description to make a match on paper, so I went and recovered three pieces of jewelry that a victim confirmed were hers and was able to obtain an arrest warrant on the housekeeping employee to file the case. Without LeadsOnline this case may have been inactivated without an arrest or would have been a lot more difficult to file.”

Sentimental military ring recovered – crook linked to other burglaries

“I was assigned to investigate a burglary where several articles of jewelry were stolen. Unfortunately, there was no physical or forensic evidence found at the scene when the crime scene was processed, nor were there any witnesses located to aid in identifying a suspect. I researched LeadsOnline, as I do in ALL of my cases, and I found a transaction at a local gold buying center that documented and photographed the sale of a valuable and sentimental military ring that was stolen from my victim. Agency gains new tool to recover stolen property

“A few months ago, I had signed up my agency for the trial period for LeadsOnline. After the trial period expired, I had to wait for the upcoming budget fiscal year to renew the agency account. Georgia jurors convict suspect based on LeadsOnline evidence

“The victim returned home after work and found his home burglarized of a flat screen TV and 80 dollars in cash. He made a report that evening and it was assigned to me the next day. I was able to talk with the victim on the following day when he gave me numbers on the TV and several names of persons that he suspected may have committed the crime. After getting off the phone with the victim, I signed on LeadsOnline, ran the numbers and the ticket that came up showed the suspect to be one of the persons that the victim had given me. He had actually pawned the TV at 12:30 pm on the day of the burglary a few hours before it was reported. I printed the LeadsOnline ticket, making it a part of the case file and obtained a felony warrant for the suspect. He was tried in Walker County Superior Court and found guilty of the burglary. The only physical evidence that was submitted at trail was the original pawn ticket from the store and the LeadsOnline print out that I had made. I did have to explain how we used LeadsOnline in investigations. After the trial and convictions which the suspect received 5 years, we polled the jury and they told us that the LeadsOnline was a big factor in their choice to convict him. So yes LeadsOnline really works well we have recovered a lot of property using LeadsOnline!”

South Bend PD has great success since using LeadsOnline

“The South Bend Police Department was alerted to a residential burglary in our city. The suspects broke in and stole over $40,000 worth of musical equipment from the home while the resident was out of town. The victim had specific details pertaining to the stolen property and we checked out area shops with no luck. Several days after the incident, South Bend Police Burglary Unit Detective Kelly Waite was utilizing LeadsOnline to check activity outside of the city. While searching data across the country, Detective Waite found a transaction in a Chicago, Illinois secondhand store. The items sold were consistent with some of the stolen property from this residential burglary. The transaction occurred within weeks of the residential burglary being investigated, and the person making the sale had ties to the South Bend, Indiana area. Detective Waite further investigated this sale, traveled to Chicago for follow up, and determined that the property sold at this Chicago secondhand store was indeed some of the property stolen from the South Bend, Indiana residence. The person making the initial transaction was located and information was gathered that led to most of the remaining property being recovered. The majority of the property was still in South Bend, Indiana. The case investigation is continuing and further leads are being followed. LeadsOnline, and the focused investigative effort by Detective Waite, are being credited with this positive outcome to a residential burglary that without them, would have still been unsolved. The South Bend Police Department began their use of LeadsOnline in September 2013. Local secondhand stores and precious metal dealers have been utilizing the LeadsOnline service to document their daily transactions since the start of 2014. Businesses have publicly given praise to LeadsOnline stating the service is free and easy to use for the merchants. Since beginning the use of LeadsOnline, the South Bend Police Department has located dozens of stolen items such as cell phones, laptop computers, game systems, bicycles and electronic devices locally. LeadsOnline has also been credited by the South Bend Police Department Burglary Unit with recovering a stolen handgun and laptop computer in two separate cases in Texas, numerous items in Chicago and locating a felony fugitive in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, among several other successful usage of this tool.”

A cold case got a lot warmer when LeadsOnline’s NCIC hit reveals old stolen cell phone

“Two years ago, a victim laid her cell phone down at a checkout counter, forgot and left it behind. A thief stepped up to the counter and put the phone in his pocket. This was caught on security video. However, the suspect was not a known person to police. The case went cold until a Walmart cell phone location began reporting traded in phones to LeadsOnline. The phone’s serial number triggered an NCIC hit to the investigators. The phone had been traded in a year ago. The individual who traded the phone was tracked down and she told investigators who she bought the phone from. A file photo of the suspect was compared to the video footage for a match. The suspect was then confronted with the video evidence and confessed.”
