Detective is not disappointed after re-activating his account

“Shortly after re-activating my access to my LeadsOnline account, I received an NCIC hit from a case, which was submitted well prior to this access. Using this hit as the beginning, I have since discovered this subject was not the burglar; however they appear to be a fence for stolen property taken in residence burglaries. Great to have this access again.”

The best technology for law enforcement

“I am assigned to work property crimes, and I use LeadsOnline a lot. It is amazing how many cases I solve using Leads. This is one of the best law enforcement tools I have seen in my 27 years of police work. I solve approximately 5 to 10 cases a month using LeadsOnline. Now that the metal thefts are getting popular due to the increase in the price of standard and precious metals I am now utilizing the Metal Theft Investigations System that is offered to solve some of the metal theft cases I have. If your department is not using LeadsOnline, LeadsOnlabs, or the Metal Theft Investigations System, then I strongly recommend these as one of the best crime solving tools a law enforcement agency can benefit from. Thanks LeadsOnline for making my job a lot easier for me.”

Burglary with a twist is still no match for LeadsOnline and Nampa Police Department

“I recently had a case with a funny twist. It was a home burglary case that turned into to a victim refusal after I determined it was the reporting parties own child that had stolen all their electronics. This is where it gets interesting. Some of the electronics stolen were turned into an ecoATM at one of our local grocery stores by their son. I found out through interviews that they were trying to circumvent the ecoATM by tying electrical cord on a cell phone then allowing it to be taken into the machine. They then would turn in a second phone during which time they would try to yank the cord and pull the original phone back out of the machine so they could use it again, essentially double dipping on the ecoATM. The photos taken by the ecoATM clearly show the cell phone with electrical cables or cord wrapped around it prior to being submitted. You can also see one of the suspects standing there with the cable running from the machine to his hand as if ready to yank the original phone back out. I don’t know if this is happening in other areas but I thought it was interesting and something to share. It’s nice that this ecoATM reports with LeadsOnline and takes such nice photos. Once I showed the reporting party pictures of their son doing this they quickly wanted to drop” the issue and charges. “”

Diamond earrings sold in another city recovered with LeadsOnline

“We received a case assignment concerning theft of property during a residential move. The victim had using a moving company. After the move, the victim noticed that a pair of diamond earrings valued over $5,000 was missing. The victim had the name of an employee who had been alone briefly inside the master bedroom, where the jewelry was kept. A report was filed by the victim, but a search on the suspect’s name came back without a lead. We then cross referenced the property description, which led to locating property outside our jurisdiction, in Nashville. The earrings were pawned day after the victim’s move, but by the suspect’s girlfriend. The earrings were recovered and returned to the victim.”

Police use multiple search methods to find stolen property on LeadsOnline

“I was investigating a theft of yard equipment without finding the property. I was using the serial number search method and had saved the search for a few days. I then searched by make of the property and noticed that similar items of the same model type had serial numbers that started with ‘s’ instead of ‘5’. I changed the serial number for a search from ‘5’ to ‘s’ and located the stolen item. By being able to search in different ways and see similar items, I was able to locate the stolen item and close a case. I also seized the property and returned it to the owner. Thank you LeadsOnline.”

Police recover mother’s stolen belongings with advanced search techniques

“My mother’s house was broken into, and there was no physical evidence to collect at the scene to develop leads. When I lived with my mom after college, I wrote down several serial numbers of items in her house. These provided some information to follow up on after the break-in. Using LeadsOnline, I went a few weeks with no hits on the serial numbers. When I started searching for just the item descriptions and not the serial numbers, I located a leaf blower that was stolen from my mom’s house. It was sold eight days after the theft. Using LeadsOnline I searched the suspect and located several items from several house burglaries that occurred in the past few weeks. As we began recovering items from the business, we learned that the business was intentionally entering the wrong serial numbers on items being sold to them. Thanks LeadsOnline for locating some of my mom’s stolen items and also helping us recover other items which lead to several arrests.”

Lights out for daylight burglaries

“I have been using LeadsOnline since 2001. The very first time I used this system, I cleared a felony theft case. Just in the last 2 weeks we have identified and located, several suspects in recent daylight burglaries. One group is several young men who were breaking into houses and then going straight to the pawn shops to get rid of the stolen items. We have cleared 4 burglaries, arrested two — with more to come and recovered jewelry, movies and stereo equipment. Using LeadsOnline, we have been able to track suspect locations from Midland to Odessa, to San Angelo and back. Thanks again.”

Pawnshop robberies solved, thousands in stolen jewelry recovered for Alabama pawnbrokers

“Our agency was investigating a robbery of a local pawn shop. Surrounding cities were also working robberies of pawn shops believed to be done by the same people, about 25 robberies in all. While talking to another pawn shop, the manager told me about LeadsOnline. I contacted LeadsOnline and was setup for a free month. During my investigation, I received a name of a suspect. I put his name in and was shocked to see all the transactions. I, along with the loss prevention employee, went to the pawn shops listed and recovered nearly $6000 in stolen jewelry. This enabled me to obtain a warrant on the suspect. It also helped other jurisdictions. He was later picked up on a warrant. I believe this would not have been possible without LeadsOnline.”

A quick turnaround time for a residential burglary in Miami-Dade

“We had an Occupied Residential Burglary here in my district. The residents gave a brief description of the suspect and had some suspicions of who it could be. The following day, I ran the suspect’s name through the LeadsOnline system and found that he pawned two of the stolen items, three hours after the burglary. That pivotal information eventually led to his arrest, four weeks later. Very quick turnaround time for a Residential Burglary case. Thank you very much!”

Rapid pawnshop recovery in Oregon burglary investigation

“A 95 year old female had her apartment broken into and close to $5,000 in jewelry and other items were stolen. The victim had gone to the hospital the week prior and the residence was unoccupied when the burglary occurred. The victim and her daughter suspected the housekeeper who was employed with the senior community the victim lived in was possibly involved. The patrol officer who handled the investigation was told that the housekeeper just recently hooked up with a new boyfriend. Officer Barringer was able to identify the boyfriend by finding an Oregon State Police no insurance tow report from the weekend prior, where the female suspect had her vehicle towed. Officer Barringer ran the boyfriend using LeadsOnline and found that he had sold $1,600 in gold to a local business in Medford, Oregon. Detectives followed up on the investigation which led to the recovery of the victim’s jewelry from the business and after a consent search at the suspect’s residence the remainder of the victim’s property was recovered. The suspects admitted to their involvement and it was determined the housekeeper had left the outside window of the victim’s apartment open in order for her boyfriend to make entry. The housekeeper knew the victim had gone to the hospital and the residence was unoccupied. Thanks to LeadsOnline this case was solved within two days, where using the old hand check” system it would have taken weeks possibly months. LeadsOnline also allowed for officers to follow up quickly on this investigation and because of that all of the victim’s property was recovered.””

Police identify landscaper as suspect in precious metals theft case

“I was assigned to follow up on a theft case. It was unknown when the theft actually occurred, and the large amount of potential suspects proved to make this case difficult to solve. The homeowner was having her house renovated for approximately three months. During this time she was living at another location. When she moved back into her home, she discovered that many pieces of jewelry and coins were missing. She immediately suspected that the construction workers were responsible for the theft. Because of LeadsOnline, I was able to identify the offender, determining that the thefts originated from a couple of years ago until the present time when she discovered some items missing. The offender turned out to be a landscaper rather than the construction workers as she had originally thought. Thanks LeadsOnline!”

Missouri Sheriff’s Office recovers stolen property for victimized widow

“While speaking with a victim who was recently widowed, she gave me the names of three suspects who had possibly stolen items from her residence. This was done while her husband was on his death bed in hospital. How rude can a person be? Well I left her residence, and then had a suspect identified within thirty minutes thanks to LeadsOnline. A $15 stolen knife solves a burglary case

“I became a detective in my department in March of 2010. I took over the cases of the detective I replaced when he went back to the work the road. Through LeadsOnline, I found a knife that was taken in a burglary at one of our local pawn shops. The female who pawned the knife was best friends with our suspect. I charged the woman that pawned the knife and she plead guilty and received probation, she has to attend theft classes, pay fines and restitution totaling over $800.00 for a $15.00 knife. Thank you for your help.”

One search solves multiple crimes

“I received a burglary report from patrol that listed stolen items, however no suspect information existed, and there wasn’t any evidence recovered at the scene. As usual, the victims did not have the serial numbers listed for their stolen items. I ran a generic check on LeadsOnline for one of the stolen items: an acoustic Fender guitar. Of particular interest was a male who had pawned an acoustic Fender guitar in an a city about thirty miles away, the same day as the burglary. I then ran a search of that male’s pawn activity and saw that he had pawned a digital camera just three days later, matching the description of the one stolen in the burglary. I was able to contact the pawn shops and after they emailed me photos of the stolen items, I was able to confirm with the victim that the items were in fact theirs and that the person who had pawned them was their son-in-law. The items were recovered and the suspect was arrested. Upon the suspect’s arrest, we located a stolen credit card on his person from a vehicle prowl that patrol deputies were taking the report on just a few miles down the road. A search of his residence turned up evidence from another burglary in an adjoining jurisdiction, to which the suspect ultimately confessed, as well as to burglarizing his in-laws’ residence. Had it not been for LeadsOnline and the service that you provide, these cases would have probably never been solved and the property never recovered.”

Further investigation solves numerous burglaries of small businesses

“I was assigned to follow up on a case where a suspect was found with stolen items in a stolen vehicle. I tracked some of the stolen items to a burglary of a small carpet installation business. This led me to check the suspect’s name in LeadsOnline, which showed he sold other items from that same burglary. This suspect had sold and pawned numerous items in 8 months’ time. I have now tracked down items this suspect sold from another burglary to a small tree trimming business and items he stole from his brothers, father and uncle. The satisfaction of returning these items to the rightful owners is amazing. The small business owners were especially grateful because these tools help them make a living. Thanks LeadsOnline.”

Online investigations reporting system leads police to rare, stolen guitars

“One of our Officers took a report of two very expensive, rare guitars stolen from a storage locker. The owner had been out of the country for a few weeks, and when he returned, he found his prized guitars were stolen. These guitars were valued at $9,000. After being assigned to this case, I searched in LeadsOnline for the guitars and instantly got a hit. I found that it was a female who sold the guitars to a local shop pawn shop, but through questioning and surveillance I received information that her boyfriend was involved. I recovered the rare guitars before they could be resold. I really appreciate LeadsOnline in this case because the victim reported the burglary the middle of January 2013 but the guitars had been stolen and sold a month earlier. The ability to see historical data was imperative.”

One Leads hit locates a stolen Rolex and solves additional cases

“I was sitting in a briefing when an officer mentioned that a victim had a Rolex stolen from her vehicle. Detectives aren’t typically assigned to a Theft from Auto, but given the specific brand of watch, I thought I’d search LeadsOnline. I got an instant hit with Leads where a Rolex was sold the same day as the theft. A picture of the watch submitted by the shop proved to be helpful, too. I was able to compare that to a picture the victim submitted. I recovered the watch and was able to return it to the victim. She is a law school student who had borrowed her mother’s watch. The watch had been in their family for 20 years. She was extremely thankful for getting it back. I did some additional follow up with the suspect in this case and have since used LeadsOnline to connect him to another burglary in the same area as the Theft from Auto. He sold watches and some computer equipment from one burglary to the same shop. I recovered video from the shop to then do a search warrant on the suspect’s vehicle, which gave me items from two other burglaries. The suspect was on probation for burglary so he’s been in jail since. Thanks LeadsOnline.”

Employing new ways to recover property

“I would like to inform LeadsOnline of success stories from the Little Rock Police Department. The first occurred on September 23, 2004, when I was contacted by one of my Burglary victims. Mr. Smith requested I look up a person he thought might be involved in his burglary. I took the name and ran it in your system, but did not receive any information on this subject. I decided to check the articles and guns in the NCIC area of LeadsOnline. I do this on a weekly basis to check weapons. Mr. Smith had also talked to me about the weapons taken in the burglary of his home. I started going down the list and noticed two weapons that matched the description of the ones taken in Mr. Smith’s burglary. Mr. Smith did not have his serial numbers recorded, but stated he could identify the weapons. After calling Mr. Smith I inquired about a television he had reported and it also matched what this person had pawned. After making an appointment to meet Mr. Smith at the pawn shop, I continued to search the NCIC report. To cut a long story short, I located two other hits on the same page. I was able to solve three burglaries assigned to me within a 15-minute span and recover over $5,000.00 in property. On November 3, 2004, I located a stolen weapon from Grant County, Arkansas. After checking the name of the person who pawned the weapon using LeadsOnline, I also located where he had pawned an additional three weapons. The weapons have been secured through the Police Hold section of LeadsOnline and warrants will be filed on this subject. I want to send my gratitude to LeadsOnline for this website. This site is one of the greatest tools a Police Officer could dream of. I would recommend LeadsOnline to all agencies in Law Enforcement.”

Suspect crosses multiple states attempting to sell stolen property

“I investigated a motor vehicle break-in where a leaf blower was stolen from the victim. The victim was able to obtain the license plate number from the suspect’s vehicle, which had been reported stolen as well. During the investigation, Shelby Police Department in North Carolina provided a suspect’s name who had extensive history in their jurisdiction. They further advised that the suspect had been arrested in Florida approximately two days after the reported incident in my jurisdiction. I searched for the missing leaf blower using the suspect’s name and located the victim’s property in Augusta, Georgia. Through assistance with the local sheriff’s department in Georgia, the property was recovered and returned to the victim. The information obtained through LeadsOnline resulted in a felony arrest of two suspects.”

Texas detective uses LeadsOnline to crack the chain of cases in which high school students steal and sell their classmates cell phones

“I searched LeadsOnline for a stolen cell phone that belonged to a high school student. LeadsOnline found the phone and we were able to recover it.
