LeadsOnline catches tricky thieves

“We just received two more confirmed hits on stolen items that were taken in other jurisdictions then brought here! LeadsOnline makes it so much easier to track our thieves… even when they think they are being sneaky by ‘going the distance.’ Thanks!”

LeadsOnline helps police focus on retail theft

“I used LeadsOnline to further an investigation leading to the recovery of property and prosecution in other cases as well. I began to monitor the pawn history of one suspect pawning an unusually high quantity of high-end sporting and hunting optics. He was pawning new items. The suspect was committing fraudulent returns at least two major retailers in a neighboring jurisdiction and then selling the cards via a well-known internet classifieds list site. Through coordination of three different local agencies and the dedication of the stores’ asset protection staff, the suspect was caught in the act in early September, stealing — you guessed it — more binoculars. The suspect subsequently confessed to all the previous thefts. A conservative estimate on the value of the total amount of items could be set at $5000 to $6000. Without the ease of use and automation of LeadsOnline this prolific shoplifter may have gone undetected for much longer and the property may have never been recovered. The agency with jurisdiction in the case is currently working on recovery of the property and prosecution of the case.”

Burglary incident leads to arrest

Irreplaceable guitar recovered for victim

“We had a residential burglary and among the items taken was a red guitar that was handmade for the victim by his now deceased father. Of course being handmade there was no serial numbers, but the victim was able to provide the reporting officer a detailed description. When I spoke to him, he was able to tell me a little more. I checked LeadsOnline for a red guitar, but nothing hit. I sent out an email asking that they keep a lookout for this guitar. The next day there was a LeadsOnline entry for me that sounded like the guitar that was stolen. I drove to the business, where it was located and found that the guitar matched the one stolen in our burglary. The victim was able to meet me and recover his property. Of all the items that were taken, this was the most valuable to the victim, not in cost (very little), but sentimental.”

Columbus PD make an arrest for theft by deception

“I was assigned a burglary a few months back and received a hit confirmation from LeadsOnline for a stolen Xbox. To make a long story short, I recovered the Xbox at a local business and returned it to my victim. The victim did not want to prosecute after he received his gaming system, but the business pressed charges for the theft by deception so I was able to take out warrants. I recently arrested my suspect. Thanks, LeadsOnline.”

Burglaries of homes and businesses in Arkansas solved by city and county law enforcement

“A local mechanic shop reported that a welder and battery charger had been stolen from the business. A few days later, a resident reported that her home had been burglarized. An XBOX 360, two games, and assorted jewelry was stolen from the residence. Five days after the first burglary, Rison Police Officer Eric Powers searched LeadsOnline for the stolen property. Officer Powers observed where an individual had sold a welder at a pawn shop in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Officer Powers also found that this person had sold some jewelry at another pawn shop in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Officer Powers went to the pawn shops and viewed their security video that showed two individuals selling the welder stolen from the mechanic shop. Officer Powers went to the other pawn shop and viewed the security tape where the suspects sold the jewelry. The two were picked at a residence in Rison, Arkansas. The male suspect confessed to committing the burglaries and that the female suspect sold the items because he did not have an identification card. All the items reported stolen in the burglaries were recovered thanks to LeadsOnline. Thanks Again.”

“I recently was able to recover several hundred dollars’ worth of stolen property by using LeadsOnline. The suspect was using other people to sell items for him. LeadsOnline is music to a victim’s ears

“One of our school resource officers made me aware that four Yamaha clarinets had gone missing over a two-week period from one of our public schools. A quick check on LeadsOnline showed that one person sold four Yamaha clarinets on two separate occasions, and the serial numbers matched our missing items. The suspect was located and admitted that when she was picking up her step-daughter from school she grabbed a couple clarinets from where band instruments were kept and sold them. After a couple of weeks, she grabbed two more and sold them as well. The cost of each clarinet is around $900, so the suspect is being charged with two counts of felony theft. Talk about some happy parents when the instruments were returned. Thanks again LeadsOnline!”

LeadsOnline is a hit generator for Clark County Ohio Detectives

“We received a report of a stolen generator from a victim in New Carlisle Ohio. Upon receiving the detailed information on the generator, a search was done on LeadsOnline for this item and the suspect. After the search, we located that the suspect had sold the generator at a business in Fairborn Ohio. We were able to place a Police Hold on the item and the victim was able to get his generator back. We also with this information were able to file charges against the suspect in this case for Receiving Stolen Property. This would not have been possible without the LeadsOnline system.”

CSI could not have done better than Cincinnati Police

“I received a burglary investigation, on which another detective had already done the crime scene. She stated she did not find any prints or DNA at the scene, but recovered a coat button from the window sill where the suspect(s) had entered. The suspect(s) closed the window on the coat button after climbing through the window, not knowing it was there. The victim gave me the serial number from the TV that was stolen in the offense and I entered it into LeadsOnline. I immediately got a hit on a subject. My partner and I went out and located the subject at his family member’s house, arresting him on Receiving Stolen Property. When we got ready to transport him back to our district, I asked if he wanted to bring a coat. His girlfriend grabbed his coat for him and it turned out that it was missing a button on the front pocket. The button we recovered was distinctive and matched the rest on the coat. The suspect gave a full confession and a name for another suspect. Without LeadsOnline, we never would have found that suspect.”

Police use LeadsOnline to identify suspect in hotel room burglaries

“I was following up on several reports of items being taken from hotel rooms where it could not be determined how entry was gained into the rooms. While using LeadsOnline to investigate the missing property, I developed a suspect in the case. Further investigation led to the arrest of our suspect who admitted to entering the hotel rooms and taking the victims’ property and other items from their mini bar. He stated that it was easy and it paid well, allowing him to purchase cocaine and heroin. This confession helped us close a countless number of cases that otherwise would have remained a mystery. LeadsOnline led us to the bad guy and allowed us to return some items to the victims in this matter.”

Property recovered for schools and churches burglarized by heroin addicts

“Schools and churches on the north and northwest side’s of Chicago were being burglarized. Based on witness accounts, detectives in the Major Case Squad were able to determine a male and female suspect, and their residence was put on surveillance until they were caught in the act of burglarizing a Chicago public high school. During interviews, we learned they were heroin addicts with very little recollections of the places they had previously burglarized. Using LeadsOnline, detectives discovered proceeds from an additional seven burglaries, and we were able to recover and return a considerable amount of property to the schools and churches. Thanks for your products and services – it made our job easier.”

Apple laptop recovered for college student

“While investigating a residential burglary in Chicago, I found out that the neighbor of my victim was seen knocking on the victim’s door prior to the burglary. An initial search of LeadsOnline and interview of the person of interest yielded negative results. The victim was a student who had just purchased her Apple laptop and was not in a financial position to get another. Several days later, a LeadsOnline search revealed that our person of interest pawned the computer on the opposite side of the city in an attempt to cover his tracks. Without LeadsOnline, this would not have been possible. The person of interest was subsequently convicted of burglary and would not have been without the LeadsOnline system! The victim recovered her computer.”

Cheyenne Police use LeadsOnline to immediately solve two Part 1 crimes

“I wanted to send this message to let you know how the LeadsOnline system has already helped us in two investigations. The first case involves a grand larceny from a Wyoming Game and Fish state office building. I had been working the case for over two months and had not recovered any of the $14,000 worth of property that was taken. I had developed suspects, but had no solid evidence linking them to the crime. The very first time I used the LeadsOnline system I found one of my suspects had pawned a $600.00 computer that was taken from the Game and Fish building. This computer was recovered and I now have the link I need to pursue charges against the suspect. The second case involves a suspect our department had been trying to locate for at least three weeks. The person is suspected in multiple grand larceny cases. By using the LeadsOnline system, we found a possible current address for the suspect and we believe this will assist us in finding him. All of the detectives are very pleased that this system is in place and we see the LeadsOnline system as being a great benefit to our department.”

Evidence, arrest, confession. LeadsOnline makes it easy.

“An investigation into the theft of a $10,000 bracelet led to the possible identity of a suspect. A search using this extraordinary database revealed that the suspect pawned the stolen bracelet two days after the theft. I was able to recover surveillance of the transaction, but was not able to recover the bracelet because it had already been scrapped by the store. With this timely information provided by LeadsOnline, I was able to arrest the suspect and obtain a confession. We are currently working with other agencies in an effort to identify his involvement with other thefts. Thanks again for creating such a useful database.”

Police use LeadsOnline to locate suspect in $166,000 theft from coin shop

“I received a complaint from the owner of a local coin shop in reference to jewelry stolen from the business. According to management, a recent inventory was conducted, resulting in locating over $166,000 worth of jewelry missing. During the investigation it was determined that a prior employee was a person of interest. I learned that over the past few months the former employee had been frequenting the store. On each visit, she would ask to use the upstairs restroom where the jewelry was stored. At this point, the first investigative tool used was LeadsOnline. The LeadsOnline search resulted in locating over $10,000 worth of stolen jewelry. The stolen jewelry was then recovered and returned to the business. Based on the LeadsOnline search, a warrant was issued for the suspect.”

Hospital laptops containing confidential information stolen; LeadsOnline closes the case in 20 minutes

“A tough case made easy. I was recently assigned a grand larceny case from a hospital where multiple laptops were stolen. The laptops contained medical records along with personal information for hundreds of patients. I had no set suspects, only a list of personnel who had access to the area during the time the laptops were stolen. A quick search in LeadsOnline produced a substantial lead. One of the names provided had sold one of the laptops. After a quick follow up with the suspect, the case was solved, and the laptops were recovered. I had maybe 20 minutes of time tied up in this investigation thanks to LeadsOnline.”

Troublesome neighbors to blame for missing tools

“LeadsOnline helped me solve another case. I was recently assigned a burglary with little to go on except a whole list of tools (nothing out of the ordinary and of course no serial numbers). After speaking with the victim, I learned of some troublesome neighbors. A search on LeadsOnline for the neighbor’s name produced a pawn ticket with most of the tools (only vaguely described). I met with the victim at the pawn shop, and he was able to identify the tools as his own. Like most tool owners, the victim knew all of the working and non-workings of his tools. The victim was able to describe something specific about each tool that eliminated any doubt they were his. Thanks again LeadsOnline, I can now obtain a warrant and investigate further knowing I’m on the right track.”

One hit leads detectives to uncover thousands in stolen constructions equipment

“While conducting my daily check on LeadsOnline, I came across a stolen gas powered air compressor valued at $1200. The compressor was stolen from a construction site just hours before being pawned by the suspect. I contacted the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office and advised them of the item being recovered. I was later contacted by a Deputy who advised that this case and the suspect interview led to several more construction site thefts being solved and the recovery of thousands of dollars in stolen generators, compressors and tools. The suspect was arrested and confessed to all counts charged.”

Camera stolen by employee at camera shop

“I recently received a possible hit on three items through LeadsOnline for stolen property. I confirmed that the property was stolen through NCIC and pulled the initial reports from my agency. Once I verified that all of the information from LeadsOnline was correct, I contacted the pawn shop where the items were pawned and recovered two of the three items that were stolen. The third item had already been sold by the pawn shop, but hopefully we will recover it. The first item was a Sony Playstation 3 and warrants will be signed on the suspect for that incident. The second item that was recovered is a Nikon D90 digital camera recovered on worth $1,049.99. The item was recovered and when I contacted the camera store that the item belonged to, the employee who answered the phone admitted to the crime. She was arrested for Grand Larceny and was immediately fired by her employer.”

Recovered four stolen items in one week

“I just got another hit on an item from LeadsOnline. I checked into the additional item and discovered that a Compaq computer was stolen from Radio Shack a few weeks ago at our local mall. Diamond engagement ring recovered with arrest made same day

“A $15,000, 1.5 carat, diamond engagement ring was reported stolen by one of our local Assistant Prosecutors. She said the ring was in her jewelry box, and her house was secured with the exception of having her carpets cleaned the day before. We did a little investigating, and through LeadsOnline we instantly discovered where one of the people who cleaned her carpets pawned a 1.5 carat diamond engagement ring a few hours after cleaning her carpets. We responded to the business where the victim positively identified the ring. We were able to recover the ring and make an arrest the same day.”

Stolen iPad recovered thanks to Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and LeadsOnline

“My agency recently got LeadsOnline, and while conducting a search, I located a possible match to a stolen iPad. I was able to verify the serial number was the same as the one stolen from my jurisdiction. I am in South Carolina, and the iPad was located at a cell phone/tablet ATM in Texas. During my investigation, I identified the suspect as a resident of where the crime occurred. Positive identification was made, and we successfully closed this case. The item was recovered and returned to the owner. Viewing associated persons on LeadsOnline gives detective both suspects and all the missing property

“Detective Miller spoke with the victim and he informed me that he believes his employee took the listed items from him while he was at a doctor’s appointment. I checked LeadsOnline for the suspect and found where he sold some of the items on the same day they went missing. I looked at the associate tab on LeadsOnline and it came up with a new person associated with the suspect. I checked her tickets in LeadsOnline and found the remaining stolen items, from the construction site, under her name. The victim was able to give me a detail description of the items that were stolen which allowed me to identify them without the serial numbers. The suspects were identified through a photo lineup. I’m obtaining arrest warrants on both suspects for breach of trust and obtaining goods by false pretenses.”

Sentimental (and expensive) Rolex watch recovered

“I have nothing but good things to say regarding the LeadsOnline program. It allows investigators to get the jump on locating property from victims who have been violated, in every sense of the word. Most recently, I was investigating a burglary of a residence where jewelry, laptop computers, and various other electronic equipment was stolen. The backdoor was kicked open and the house was ransacked throughout. The victim was devastated because his Rolex watch had been listed as a piece of property that was stolen. The watch was expensive, but also had sentimental value attached. The serial number of the watch was made available, and I ran it through LeadsOnline. Within a few seconds I located the watch which had been pawned in an adjacent city. The watch was recovered and returned to the owner, who was enthusiastically happy that he was able to have his watch back. As a result, I was able to convict the suspect who committed the burglary above. This case would not have been solved if it wasn’t for the LeadsOnline program. LeadsOnline to criminals: game on

“I’ve been a LeadsOnline user for many years now and have located a lot of reported stolen property while using this great system. In my latest adventure, I was just checking LeadsOnline on items that were reported stolen in a new case with no person of interest information. The items were two `Bolens` brand weed trimmers, one the victim actually had the serial number for. I simply entered my case number and then the brand name of `Bolens` and there it was; the top reported item was for a `Bolens` BL110 weed wacker with the same serial number reported by this victim. The date of the transaction was listed as a day prior to when the victim had listed it missing, funny that. In checking the listed item information for the guy who had sold it; he had listed an address just two houses down and across the street from this victim. The item is on a police hold and now…game on. Thanks LeadsOnline for this great tool and system.”

This gamer can keep on gaming thanks to their detectives recovery using LeadsOnline

“I was recently working on a case where a PlayStation 4 and about 20 games were stolen from my victim. The house sitter had some `friends` over and one of the friends stole the console and games while the house sitter was in a back bedroom of the house. Through LeadsOnline I was able to take the friends name and run it, finding that he sold roughly 15 of the stolen games to a business in Westland, just days after the incident. Apartment TV thief caught via LeadsOnline

“An apartment owner reported the theft of five 32 in. RCA TV’s from her 250 unit apartment complex. She did not have the serial numbers, but all were the same model number. I ran the model number under description search and had 33 hits Texas-wide. Three were by the same person, in this city, at three different pawnshops. Vacation home robbed in North Carolina, suspect caught

“I received a report of breaking, entering and larceny from a vacation home. The victim called and gave me the serial number to the television that was taken. I quickly searched LeadsOnline and as expected a hit came back with that serial number from the television. It turns out the television was pawned one day after the victim said the residence was last secure. The suspect is a frequent flyer with our agency. LeadsOnline can be instrumental in providing evidence

“During a knock-and-talk with a suspect, my partner and I noticed a camper on the adjacent property. The door of the camper appeared to be slightly ajar, so we went to investigate and found the door was pried open. We found muddy boot prints inside. The suspect we interviewed became increasingly nervous but with little to no proof he committed the crime, the chances of making an arrest that day were slim. We also found the residence on the same property was broken into and several tools were taken. We made contact with the victim and got a working list of the items that were taken. We took pics of the boots the suspect had in his residence and several photos of the items around his property in hopes of catching him with the pry bar. After we left, I checked LeadsOnline hoping the guy sold some items, but I came up with nothing. The next Monday, I was using LeadsOnline and to my excitement, I located the transaction ticket from Saturday where our suspect must have gotten spooked and sold the stolen tools to a local shop. LeadsOnline was instrumental in the capture of this suspect and based on the facts of the case we would have had a very hard time proving the crime, and less of a chance to recover our victim’s items.”

More stolen property recovered for victimized homeowners

“Two burglaries occurred in Brookville, Ohio and the homeowners of both burglarized homes were able to compile a list of stolen items and corresponding serial numbers. Investigating officers entered serial numbers of the stolen property into LeadsOnline, which alerted officers that the stolen property had been sold. LeadsOnline provided Investigating officers with the name and location of the business and most importantly, the name of the individual who sold the stolen items.
